Can You Lose Weight Through Prepared Meals
Many people like to know what to eat to lose weight. Keeping to a calorie controlled weight loss plan can certainly support you to lose those additional lbs and experience the results of extra weight loss – yet how much can they help?
Trials
There have been little research to date into commercial weight loss plans that give pre-made calorie controlled meals, however two new trials have assisted health officials to get a clearer picture.
Study 1: conducted on a group of 130 obese women for 12 months, each was given 2 calorie controlled replacement meals and drinks every day for the first 12 weeks, before going down to 1 meal per day from 3 months onwards. When taken alongside 1 hours daily exercise they witnessed average weight losses of 10kg-12kg in 1 year.
Study 2: conducted on a group of 442 overweight women with BMIs of between 25 and 40, during the course of this assessment they were tested to see which offered better results – replacement meals or advice from a nutritionist…
After 2 years it was discovered that those provided with pre-packaged meal lost 300% more body fat than those getting dietician advice: pre-packaged meals (average fat losses 6-7kg), nutritional support (average fat losses of 2kg).
Is this research reliable?
Even though both studies clearly show the benefits of getting weight loss guidance, the 2nd trial is the most reliable as researchers were able to review calorie controlled meals to nutritional recommendations.
However even with these figures, these results should be considered carefully…
Supplied these meals for 1-2 years for no cost at all, it is difficult to determine if these statistics would have been the same if slimmers had had to purchase these meals independently or if they had accessed less assistance.
