How many times do you look in the mirror, see yourself and then wish that there was some sort of magic spell that you could do to make your body instantly become the size you dream of it being? How often do you tell yourself “I need to lose some weight now.” How often do you think these things and wish for things like an easier way to exercise or more motivation for things like cooking healthy meals instead of going out to eat at junky fast food joints each night? Take progress photos of yourself. You might hate the idea of having someone take a “before” photo. Take one anyway. You should have someone take at least a single photo each week during your weight loss program. You want to have more than a “before” and “after” photo. You should document the whole process with photos. These photos will help to keep you inspired and keep you working hard on your goals. It’s easier to stick to a program if you can see the results as they occur. Sometimes you need to see more than what you can see by looking in a mirror. We need a photo to compare ourselves to in order to really see how much work we have done and the success that we have had. Always remember that no diet is going to be successful without accompanying it with an exercise routine. If you aren’t exercising it won’t matter if you only take in a few hundred calories of nourishment a day (which is terrible and you should not try it); your diet will fail. Even if the hardest thing you do is going for a walk each afternoon, you’ll have more success with your weight loss. Exercising will bolster your energy level, help you burn more calories, tone your muscles and help keep you on track toward your goals.
Try to keep track of what you eat for a while. In the long run, even though it seems like a giant pain to do, keeping a food journal can be quite helpful.
The idea here is not to make sure you write down every single calorie that you take in (though doing so can be very helpful later when you need to figure out just how much working out you need to do). Doing this will help you figure out what kind of tastes you like the best and what kinds of foods you tend to crave. The main idea behind a successful diet is to find a way to replace the junky food you love with healthier alternatives of the same basic tastes and textures. A good example of this is eating real strawberries instead of strawberry flavored junk foods. Your food journal will help you with this because it will increase the likelihood that your diet will be successful.
Lots of people are concerned with weight loss. Almost everybody thinks that they have some weight to lose. Losing weight is perfectly fine as long as you have a healthy approach to the process. If you don’t approach weight loss with a healthy mindset you probably won’t lose any pounds at all and you will be more likely to gain back most (if not all) of the pounds you do manage to lose.
