An Overview Of Food, Energy and Stress
Each one of us goes through stressful situations every now and then. It is a normal part of life. Stress can be brought about by a number of reasons. Losing a job, financial woes, losing a loved one are a few of the major reasons that cause stress.
Another way to look at stress is that it is an important part of life. Stress brings out our inner strengths and makes us stronger. There are a number of things we need to be careful about when dealing with stress. Let us take a look at the things we can do to manage stress.
In most likelihood there is little we can do to change the circumstances that cause stress. What we can do is to take positive steps to manage stress. A time tested method of dealing with stress is to get enough exercise. Exercise results in the release of feel good endorphins into the blood stream. Endorphins work as stress busters and induce a sense of well being.
A number of people are susceptible to binge eating when faced with stress. It is easy to fall prey to junk food such as pizza, hamburgers, doughnuts and milkshakes. It is okay once in a while. The fact is that stress at times reduces our will power and we find comfort in these types of foods. Junk food is unhealthy. We should try to avoid junk food.
It almost sounds like a cliché when we say that junk food is low on nutrition and high on calories and saturated fat. Junk food is high on the glycemic index and we should condition our minds on avoiding such foods. We should put a lot of stress on eating healthy for energy. This can be done by eating fiber rich food, lean meat, vegetables and fruit.
It is not easy to fight stress. However, following a few simple rules of thumb can help you in your struggle against stress. Plenty of exercise, fresh air and sunshine go a long way in making you feel better and ensuring that you come out of the stressful situation.
