Reese’s Famous Peanut Butter Cups
The most famous name in American chocolate is Milton S. Hershey, founder of the Herhsey’s Company and the first man to consider coating candy in chocolate. In 1900, his company introduced the Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bar to America and it hasn’t looked back since.
Other notable dates in the company’s history include 1903, when they opened their first factory, 1941-45, when they supplied over one billion Hershey bars as rations for the troops in World War II and 1971 when they introduced a dark chocolate bar.
One of the company’s most famous product ranges is Reese’s. It first appeared 83 years ago in 1928 and even has its own “I Love Reese’s Day” – May 18th!
It is a huge and diverse product range as well, so let us have a look at what is in it.
The most well known product is surely Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Essentially peanut butter covered in chocolate, they come in packs of two, shaped in shallow cups with ridged edges.
As well as normal milk chocolate, Peanut Butter Cups are available in dark chocolate and white chocolate.
For the fan of peanut butter and chocolate who prefers a bite-sized experience, Hershey’s also do Reese’s Minis, a bag of unwrapped, tiny cups and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups Miniatures, a small version of their parent candy.
Not a fan of chocolate but want the peanut butter taste in a sweet snack? Not a problem. Reese’s Pieces are peanut butter coated in a crunchy, sugary shell.
By now you will have noticed that all of Reese’s product range has a hook – peanut butter! This continues through the rest of the range too.
Reese’s Sticks are a sandwich of three sticks of wafer and two layers of peanut butter coated in milk chocolate, while Reese’s Fast Break offers the peanut butter and chocolate experience in conjunction with chewy nougat.
For a nuttier, crunchier experience, give Reese’s Nutrageous and Crispy Crunchy bars a go. The former combines the usual ingredients with roasted peanuts and smooth caramel, while the latter uses crushed peanuts and crunchy peanut butter candy. Both will suit the nut lover and strike fear into the heart of those with a nut allergy more than usual!
Does all this sound to heavy for you? Don’t worry, Hershey’s have thought of everything by producing Reese’s Whipps which is a light peanut butter nougat wrapped in a coating of milk chocolate. They describe it as lighter than air, but much tastier!
